UEFA Champions League Final
Juventus vs Real Madrid LIVE build-up ahead of 2017 Champions League final in Cardiff
Kick-off Saturday 7.45pm
Venue National Stadium of Wales
Gianluigi Buffon is 39 and desperate to win a first Champions League title,
while the defence is made up of 30-somethings. Andrea Barzagli is the elder statesman at 36, Giorgio Chiellini is 32 and Leonardo Bonucci a spring chicken at 30. Dani Alves is their 34-year-old right-back.
“It’s true that Real normally win in the final, but it’s time to reshape our own fortune tomorrow.
The Ballon d’Or would be a gratifying prize to claim, but it’s a big second to winning the Champions League.
Playing this final will be a very special feeling for me. My aim is to not have any regrets afterwards.”
Uefa Champions League Final
Splitting Bonucci up from Giorgio Chellini and Gianluigi Buffon would be almost sacrilege on a par with lighting the Turin Shroud on fire.
But the Premier League needs some genuinely world class defenders to shore up the currently crop of flaky back lines which any attacker worth his salt can waltz through.
Bonucci is the youngest of the trio and therefore the most legs left in him to make a long term difference to the English game.
Juve only conceded 27 times on their way to the Italian title this season, and 20 last year, and Bonucci is a massive reason behind that.

Zidane: Bale and Isco could BOTH start
“I won’t tell you who plays. Last week I said they could even play together. Anything could happen. The important thing is that I see they are all ready to play, not just physically,
but psychologically too. What I care about is that we are all in physically good shape at the end of the season and that’s positive. You’ll see how we play tomorrow.
I think the positive thing about a game like this is that everyone is highly-motivated. You have to help create motivation at the start of a season, not ahead of a Final”
“We won’t change anything from what has got us to this point.
Tomorrow we will play our game ”
“Cristiano wants to always win.
He’s never satisfied and above all he is a born leader on the pitch.”
UEFA CHAMPIONS LEAGUE FINAL
“Alex Sandro and Marcelo are the best left-sided wing-backs in the world.
We’ve come to Cardiff to win the Champions League and that’s what we have to do.”
“I don’t think about the titles that I’ve won in the past. Every day, I’m looking for more.
When you play in a team, the most important thing is to win as a team.
Any individual prizes are secondary. Every day I’m looking to rewrite history. Here at Juventus I want to make my dream come true”
Gianluigi Buffon is having his best Champions League for over a decade.
The Italian superstar has famously never lifted the iconic trophy despite previously playing in two finals.
Third time could be a charm for the World Cup winner who is keeping out goals for fun this season.
- Buffon has kept eight clean sheets in 11 Champions League matches this season, a success rate of 73 per cent. The only time he had a better clean sheet rate in this competition was in 2004/05 when he only conceded in two out of nine matches.
- Buffon hasn’t conceded more than one goal in any Champions League game this season though which is a personal best for him.
- Saturday’s final will be Buffon’s 108th Champions League match, excluding qualifiers.
- He’s kept 47 clean sheets in the 107 games he’s played so far, which works out at 44% of them.
- Buffon has 24 clean sheets from 49 games in all competitions this season (49%) and would no doubt love to make it 25 from 50 in Cardiff.
- The final will also be his 1,010th career appearance and will give him the opportunity to add to his 444 career clean sheets.

UEFA Champions League: FC Barcelona vs Juventus: Team News
Kick OFF ;-Wednesday, April 19 7:45 p.m. BST/2:45 p.m. ET
Camp Nou, Barcelona
Barcelona are in need of a miracle tomorrow, as they welcome Juventus to the Camp Nou for the second-leg of their UEFA Champions League quarter-final showdown. The Series champions dispatched the visiting Blaugrana 3-0 in the first leg in Turin, leaving Luis Enrique’s side in need of a dramatic comeback for the second time in as many knockout ties. The experience of overturning a larger, 4-0 deficit in the prior round against Paris Saint-Germain is sure to serve as inspiration for Barcelona tomorrow, although it must be mentioned that tomorrow’s match will be played under vastly different circumstances.Barcelona are virtually back to full strength. Despite missing the weekend’s difficult win over Real Sociedad with a calf injury, Javier Mascherano is said to be in “perfect shape” and will therefore be available for selection tomorrow. Coupled with the return of Sergio Busquets who missed the first leg through suspension, Luis Enrique knows that he has the players available who are capable of masterminding a comeback.
Barcelona: Ter Stegen; Mascherano, Piqué, Umtiti; Rakitić, Busquets, Iniesta, Sergi Roberto; Messi, Luis Suárez, Neymar.
Paulo Dybala is likely to be fit to start tomorrow even after picking up a knock at the weekend against Pescara, but that is likely to be the least of Barcelona’s problems. Juventus have not lost by three clear goals since January 2011, and they haven’t lost by the four-goal margin that would send the Blaugrana through in regular time since 2004 when they visited Roma and were promptly put to the sword by the tandem of Francesco Totti and Antonio Cassano. The time before that was in October 1995, so it would be fair to say that Juventus are rarely on the receiving end of the kind of hammerings that the Blaugrana love to dish out at the Camp Nou.
Juventus: Buffon; Alves, Bonucci, Chiellini, Sandro; Pjanic, Khedira; Cuadrado, Dybala, Mandzukic; Higuain
